Providing care & support for adults with disabilities

Forrest House Refurbishment

A complete refurbishment of Forrest House took place in 2008

Our new build was designed to meet with all Care Commission requirement and our facilities include:

  • State of the art large single rooms with en suite shower and toilet facilities. Each room has an overhead tracking hoist which serves the bedroom and en suite. There is a call system in each room. External patio doors lead onto the garden and patio area. Phone and internet connections in each room. All rooms have been tastefully decorated with the input of each resident.
  • Bright and spacious sun room which is used for social activities, arts and crafts etc.
  • Complimentary treatments such as aromatherapy, reflexology and Indian head massage. We have a state of the art treatment bed suitable for individuals with physical disabilities as well as 2 shiatsu massage chairs. This is also used as a sensory room where residents can enjoy their choice of music while relaxing as they watch a restful colour changing projector.
  • A tastefully furnished dining room where all share a meal together or meet up for a coffee. Our cook is very much involved with everyone on a daily basis, and menus cater for individual tastes and specialised diets.
  • An additional bathroom with a state of the art Parker Bath suitable for disabled individuals. The bath can be accessed using an overhead tracking hoist and also features a spa facility which all residents can enjoy and benefit from.
  • All bedrooms are located off a main corridor and all doorways are suitable for wheelchair users. The design allows for extensive natural light making this space very bright and airy, which the artwork on the wall compliments. There is a fire exit at each end of the main corridor which facilitates quick evacuation in the event of an emergency.

The front gardens feature two seating areas which are easily accessed. The rear gardens boast a private garden area with raised beds and a water feature to create a restful, relaxing place for residents, their families and friends to sit on summer days

What we now have is a home from home where residents can fulfil their ambitions and aspirations in an environment which is designed and adapted for their individual needs.

We have purposely tried to get away from the typical 'residential home' model and feel we have achieved this in our design, décor and approach to caring.

Respite Care Facility

When Forrest House opened its doors, it was as a Respite Home to give much needed and welcomed respite to families and carers.

The need for respite care is significantly high and care homes which have the facilities and trained staff with the expertise are in short supply in the Glasgow area. Forrest House is perfectly placed to meet this need and the new Respite Room will offer an invaluable service to families. Our Respite Room is tastefully furnished to the highest standard and has an en suite facilities, is large and spacious.
