Manager - Forrest House & Shawlands Flats
I joined Forrest House in August 2006 after working in Craigholme Bearsden for 20 years which was a residential unit for 32 deaf and deaf / blind elderly. While working there I became proficient in deaf sign language and deaf /blind communication. I worked my way up the ladder from being the cook / laundry person to care assistant, senior care assistant and the deputy manager. This was a valuable training ground which gave me an understanding of different remits.
During my time at Craigholme, I acheived SVQ3, A1 Assessor Award, SVQ4, and the Registered Managers Award. (RMA) which allowed to to apply for the position of Manager of Forrest House & Shawlands flats. I am currently registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) which is a requirement for my position.
I have many years experience caring for people with diverse and complex needs and I have been able to use my knowledge and experience within Forrest House and Shawlands flats to work with staff to achieve higher care commission gradings for both services. This has been acheived through the promotion of team work throughout our services and would not be possible without our dedicated staff group.
